Representing Monash University

Each year male and female Monash University students from all campuses have the opportunity to represent Monash at several inter-university football tournaments.

Our teams are always competitive, and are filled with Victorian soccer stars from Premier League, State League, and sometimes the National League. Our one weakness is having too much fun! Even though our results sometimes don't match our talent, we always come away with great memories and good stories.

Whilst many members of the Monash University Soccer Club participate in these tournaments, the team is selected and coached independently, and may have players from other clubs. Therefore the best contact point for those wishing to participate is through TeamMONASH, and more specifically for football the following page should have current contact details of the team managers.

The Australian University Games (AUG or Unigames) is a multi-sport competition held annually in September / October (the week of the second semester mid-semester break) between teams fielded from a large number of Australian universities and tertiary institutions.

The Games were first held in 1993 in Brisbane and are the flagship event on the university sporting calendar, attracting over 6,000 competitors each year.

The Australian University Games was created to replace the old style InterVarsity (Or I.V.) competitions that were run by the individual sports. The aim to bring more athletes together in a larger event.

Monash University is one of the premier universities at the Australian University Games and each year sends a team with a goal of winning the overall title.

The football competitions played at AUG are

  • 11-a-side outdoor (men and women)
  • futsal (men and women)
